Dunnotar Castle

The Exchange Student network is an organization here that helps students have the best time they can while abroad and they organized a trip to the Dunnotar Castle in Stonehaven. It was a short train ride away, we made the mistake of trying to get on the first car initially but it was all reserved for first class so we were not able to sit but it was only 30 minutes and we got to see everything as we drove so that was nice.

Unfortunately the castle was closed on the day we went but it was absolutely gorgeous from the outside.

Before going to the castle we walked through the town and to the beach. I come from a city that is land locked so I have always appreciated beaches.

After the beach we began the 1.3 mile hike to the beach. I use the term 'hike' loosely, it was quite an easy walk, there were a few steep parts but ultimately it was not challenging and the views along the way made it well worth the walk.

The day we went happened to be a bad weather day, it was raining and the wind was so intense I felt like I was going to be blown away! The castle was beautiful and it was a perfect place to stop for pictures.

We treated ourselves to fish and chips after at the Waterfront Cafe which was absolutely delicious!
